We live by the simple motto of “You Are What You Eat”! In the case of cadmium being found in the rice sample, it was not the case of businesses tainting the rice with heavy metal, rather, it was the case of farmers who used polluted water sources for irrigation, resulting the soil and the crop being tainted with heavy metal, such as cadmium and arsenic.*

Also, it is depressing to learn about how livestocks are being fed with hormones to accelerate growth; while chickens are tricked to consume more feeds to promote unnatural growth; while farm produces are laced with pesticide. As consumers in Asia are getting more affulent with more disposable income, farmers are busy focusing on quantity (not quality), and basically just ignored the ecological sustainable farming practices.
