Rice Recipes Tips

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says that "diets rich in whole grain foods such as BROWN RICE and other plant foods, and low in total fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol, may help reduce the risk of the heart disease, certain cancers, type II diabetes and potentially aid in weight maintenance."

Whole grains, such as BROWN RICE, is one of the 15 best fat-burning food, small doses prevent body from storing fat.

Each half-cup serving of cooked BROWN RICE equals one whole grain serving. This healthy grain contains the nutrient-dense bran and inner germ layer where the majority of the bioactive compounds are found as well as the starchy endosperm. It’s the fiberful bran coating that gives brown rice its light tan color, nutlike flavor, and chewy texture. Whole grains are believed to help reduce heart disease and may reduce the risk of certain cancers, and may aid in weight maintenance.

In addition to the fiber, whole grains like BROWN RICE are good sources of many vitamins and minerals as well as fermentable carbohydrates, lignans, phytoestrogens and phenolic compounds. The bioactive components of whole grains appear to work synergistically, which explains why whole-grain consumption provides health benefits beyond what would be predicted if the individual compounds were simply additive.

Research also shows that consumers who consume the most whole grains, like BROWN RICE , tend to be leaner than those who eat the most refined or empty carbohydrate calories, from sweets. Whole grains also generally contain more fiber than enriched options and fiber is thought to help achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.

The rice bran oil, which is present only in BROWN RICE, contains gamma-oryzanol, a compound with the ability to lower cholesterol.

BROWN RICE is 100-percent whole grain, and contains beneficial   phytonutrients that have been found to help reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers, and aid in weight management. Brown rice is a good source fiber. The fiber acts to slow down absorption of sugars in the blood and scrapes the intestinal tract of precancerous cells.

BROWN RICE are widely recommended to consumers by the public health community including the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society for their prospective effects against heart diseases and certain cancers.

The 2005 U.S. Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend grains as the foundation of a healthy diet. In fact, the new Dietary Guidelines and MyPyramid recommend at least three servings of whole grains daily, or making half your grain servings whole, with the other half coming from enriched or whole grains.

One cup of BROWN RICE is equivalent to two of the three recommended daily whole grain servings, and is digested more slowly than simple carbohydrates.

PURPLE RICE is whole grain too, which is high in antioxidants phytonutrients. Antioxidants protect your body from cell damages caused by free radicals. Free radicals are molecules that damage your body cells, organs and tissues. They do the damage by attacking and destroying cell membranes, proteins and DNA. This process is known as oxidation. Oxidation is associated with many diseases, as well as degenerative diseases associated with aging.
